Discover the effectiveness of the Ecostar mobile screen at our international demonstrations and at IFAT 2026

From May 4 to 7 we will be at IFAT Munich (Hall B6 – Stand 429) with NHEXA, the compact mobile screen introduced in 2025 that brings the patented Dynamic Disc Screening technology into an accessible format for medium and low throughput applications.

To demonstrate the machine’s performance in real operating conditions, over the last few months, we have organized several demos directly at customer facilities, working with materials of different types and complexity.
From Spain to the United Kingdom and all the way to Australia, NHEXA has been operating in very different working environments, handling heterogeneous materials and workflows and proving in the field the versatility of Dynamic Disc Screening technology.

Maximized waste treatment for medium-capacity plants with NHEXA mobile screen

NHEXA was developed as a compact mobile screen, designed for low- and medium-throughput applications, capable of processing materials such as MSW, compost, C&I waste, C&D waste, wood, and many others.

Technical innovation: versatility and real-time adjustments

The machine features a 1,200 × 5,000 mm screening surface, a 4 m³ hopper, and can be configured with 2 or 3 fractions, with screening sections ranging from 15 to 150 mm.
The screening sections can be adjusted in real time via inverter, with a variation of up to ±30%, allowing the separation to be quickly adapted to changing material conditions.

The power of our patented dynamic disc screening (DDS) on the mobile screener

At the core of the machine is the DDS – Dynamic Disc Screening technology, Ecostar’s patented system based on shafts equipped with hexagonal or octagonal discs. Its anti-wrapping system reduces the risk of material winding around the shafts and allows the machine to process fibrous or irregular materials while maintaining a continuous material flow.

From an operational standpoint, NHEXA is designed to simplify machine management and facilitate everyday activities in the plant.
The modular drawer-type screening surface, quick access to the main components, and hydraulically opening side covers make inspections and maintenance operations simple and fast.

Equipped with a diesel engine and tracked mobility, the machine can be easily moved between different facilities, adapting flexibly to operational needs.

When installed downstream of primary shredding, the screening technology NHEXA expresses its full potential by separating the material into calibrated fractions before the subsequent processing stages. In some plant configurations, this can help stabilize the screening sections already after the first shredding stage, simplifying the following process phases.

The result is a clean fines fraction, at the required size, ready for the next stages of treatment or recovery.

Field performance: mobile screening solution for complex materials

NHEXA excels where traditional systems struggle, effectively managing materials with high moisture content or those prone to clogging, including: MSW, CSS, commercial and industrial waste (C&I), compost, recycled wood, biomass, car fluff, construction and demolition waste (C&D), incinerator ash.

Many of these materials present characteristics that challenge traditional screening systems: high moisture content, fibrous elements, and plastics that tend to wrap or create build-ups.

NHEXA in the field: real applications from international demos

The NHEXA compact mobile screen is particularly suitable for screening certain materials, including:

  • Shredded green waste, which after screening, becomes a highly fibrous material with branches and plant residues, tends to intertwine easily. In this case, Ecostar’s industrial compost screeners with DDS disc system and anti-wrapping sleeves keep the material moving continuously.
  • Compost, which requires a stable separation of fine fractions even when the moisture content of the material changes.
The possibility to adjust the screening section directly via the inverter allows the machine to quickly adapt to changing conditions.
  • Biomass or shredded tyres, which show very different behaviors, as density, elasticity, and material distribution can vary significantly.

NHEXA Demo Tour: the three stops to discover the benefits of the Ecostar mobile screen

Over the past few months, some of these applications have been at the center of demos organized together with our local dealers, integrating the machine directly into the operational lines of the plants.

  • In the United Kingdom, together with local dealer Kaizen Recycling, the mobile screener processed shredded green waste in line with the shredder, reaching a productivity of around 50 t/h.

  • In Spain, with dealer Cervisimag, NHEXA was used on compost in an outdoor plant, with excellent results: cleaner and homogenous fractions and a final end product ready for a second life.

  • The Australian stop, organized together with Onetrak and CSS Recycling Equipment Solutions, involved several applications, including biomass and shredded tyres, with feeding in line with the shredder.
