High yields and separation accuracy in metal recovery from incineration bottom ash

The use of Ecostar’s dynamic disc screen ensures maximum accuracy in the separation of ferrous and non-ferrous metals from incinerator bottom ash (IBAs). Ecostar discs are made of Hardox, an ultra-resistant material particularly suitable for screening very heavy ferrous materials and grant a successful recovery of metals from bottom ash. Thanks to the high-quality components with which the Ecostar screens are made, and to the patented Dynamic Disc Screening technology it is possible to reach high production capacities, even in small spaces with minimum maintenance and cleaning time of the screen.

The importance of the screening process in the process of metal recovery from IBAs

The pre-processing phase is essential to recover ferrous and non-ferrous metals from IBAs (incinerator bottom ashes). As the initial material is not homogeneous and composed of aggregates, such as incinerator bottom ashes and metals, a high quality of screening and separation is essential to obtain a very clean final material and thus increase its value.
What makes the difference in the quality of the screening and separation process to recover metals from bottom ash is the use of a two / three fraction screen which is capable of processing large quantities of material.
The Ecostar screening technology allows a high-quality separation of incinerator bottom ashes from inerts, which can be used for construction purposes, and ferrous metals like steel, which is to undergo further recycling phases. The three screening fraction system enhances the value of each and every material so that operators can lead a profitable business while landfilling the minimum of waste.
The working productivity is high, reaching 1000 T per day, but large quantities do not translate into high energy consumption: the efficiency of our solutions for this sector guarantees maximum sustainability and a net reduction in energy consumption.

In the case of incinerator bottom ash waste, Ecostar technology does not require a cleaning phase. Low energy consumption (with savings of up to 70% compared to traditional systems) combined with the flexibility of our mobile system, whether diesel or electric, make Ecostar screens the best solution for any operating condition.
For inside sheds incinerator bottom ash processing, an Ecostar stationary screener can also be used, a machine that features a protection cover with safety switches that holds small dust particles inside, so that the operators’ working environment stays clean.
Finally, the production capacity of Ecostar screens can reach up to 100 T/H.
